Olympics Athlete Leadership Program

 As
one of the non-sport programs in Special Olympics World
Games, the Special Olympics Athlete Leadership Programs
allows athletes the opportunity to participate in Special
Olympics athletics in a completely different and nontraditional
manner. The program will take more athletes into study
and training, so that they can become leaders of Special
Olympics athletes, which sufficiently reflect the belief
of Special Olympics – realize potential, enhance confidence,
and share joy. Athletes will take on functions beyond
sports, such as being spokespersons or image ambassadors
for Special Olympics, writers of news briefings, volunteers
or staff for Special Olympics, and coaches, etc.
The Special Olympics Athlete Leadership Programs for
the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games will be
carried out widely in special education schools, as
well as in the Sunshine Homes that are spreading throughout
Shanghai’s communities. Through training and selection,
a certain number of Special Olympics athletes will be
picked as Special Olympics Leaders to participate in
all kinds of work and activities in connection with
the 2007 Special Olympics Games. |
