I. Site Selection of the Special Olympics Town
We are planning to select Jiangwan Stadium (No. 346, Guohe Road, Shanghai) as the site for 2007 Special Olympics Town. The whole town occupies a floor area of 5,000 square meters, mainly including 2 large tents for sports, of which Tent C covers an area of 2,200 square meters and Tent D 2,000 square meters, as well as two cage football courts of 375 square meters each).
We not only supply the stadium with new sports equipments, but also prepare and arrange all kinds of games and activities carefully. As a result of these efforts, the town can now receive 2,000 people a day.

Ⅲ.Activities Arranged in the Special Olympics Town
1. Open Hours:
10:00 am-8:00 pm, October 3-9, 2007

1) Folk Art Exhibition
Dragon Phoenix Calligraphy & Painting , Straw Weaving , Flour Molding (Kneading Flour Figures) , Paper Cutting , Chinese Knot Weaving, Chinese Calligraphy, Sugar Painting (Sugar Spilling)

2) Shanghai Alley Game
Pearl Picking, Nose Sticking, Bead Stringing, Shuttlecock Kicking, Spinning-top Whipping, Diabolo, Rope Skipping, Ring Tossing, Sand Pouch Tossing, Yo-yo, Hula Hoop, Rope Matrix, A Blind Man Knocking a Gong, and Red Light Go and Green Light Stop

3) Competitive Game
Mini Bowling, Darts/Bull’s-eye, See Whose Eyesight Is Sharper, King of Pingpong, Football Goal-shooting, and Basketball Shooting (Slam Dunk)

4) Mental Game
Delicate Tower (Removing the Building Blocks of a Tower), Magic Box, Hamburger Puzzle, Labyrinth, Mini Football, The Mystery of “T”, Pyramid, Patchwork, Model Making, and Paper Folding

5) Entertainment
Video-Game, DVD Films, DISCO, Karaoke, Performance of Gong and Drum Band, and Lion Dance

6) Internet Café

Ⅳ.Distinct Services of the Special Olympics Town
1. A special area of Commentary District is set up to receive the Special Olympics athletes. All the information about the town will be introduced to them here.

2. Distinct leisure areas are open to athletes and visitors from home and abroad, where coffee, milk tea, Chinese tea, cola and other beverages as well as various instant food are offered. Special internet cafes will also be available so that the athletes can surf the net for chatting or browsing news. Besides, in the leisure area there will be a shopping center to offer mascot of Special Olympics, souvenirs and stamps and so on.

3. Taking “Careful, Considerate, Patient, Sincere, and Warmhearted ” as their tenet, all volunteers of the Special Olympics will provide people-first and all-round services for the athletes.

4. To communicate and exchange with foreign athletes and coaches better, our town will offer bilingual volunteer services, including English and other languages.

Ⅴ.Safeguard Mechanism of the Special Olympics Town
1. We will arrange 400 volunteers to participate in services each day. And the process of every game will be put in the charge of persons specially appointed.

2. We try to avoid placing any thing that has potential safety hazard, such as sharp things or edge tools, in the sites for entertainment or games.

3. We will take protective measures in advance for those game equipments having potential safety hazard. For example, the equipments having sharp ends or edges will be covered with soft plastic membranes.

4. If any emergency rises, our staff and volunteers will offer timely assistance to settle the problems and ensure the safety of all people on the site.

Ⅵ.Layout of the Special Olympics Town
1. Three large advertising boards will be laid on the outfield of the town, which serve as backgrounds for the athletes taking group photos.

2. All the sites of activities will be decorated with posters, banners, colored flags and balloons to create a happy, exciting and harmonious atmosphere. At the same time beautiful background music such as Chinese and foreign popular songs as well as Chinese folk music will be played.

3. Introduction boards of activities will be set up in all sites or recreational activities. In addition, clear signs will be put up in each site as a guide.
