The Special Olympics Hotline (008621) 962007 is a telephone service hotline providing information regarding the Special Olympics. It was set up by the 2007 SOWSG GSC through the call center of its information and Telecom partner, Shanghai Telecom Co., Ltd.
It is the first time that a unified hotline service has been provided through a professional call center in the history of the Special Olympics Games. Anyone, either domestic or foreign, who attends or cares about the 2007 SOWSG, may dial the Special Olympics Hotline to directly obtain various information regarding the Games, such as the contest agenda, arrangements of different activities, registration methods for and service details by volunteers, as well as thorough information about the transportation, accommodation, catering and tourist attractions in Shanghai. If the participating athletes and their families encounter any accident, such as illness, injuries or getting lost, etc., they may also dial the Special Olympics Hotline for assistance. The staff at the Special Olympics Hotline will promptly notify the corresponding professional departments, based on types of incidents, to provide help. The Special Olympics Hotline will provide a bilingual service in Chinese and English 8 hours a day 5 days a week during the preparation period of the Games. During the 2007 SOWSG, a 24/7 service in six languages, including Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish and Arabic, will be provided to offer information to participants from all over the world.
For any question that the hotline staff does not have a ready answer, the call will be forwarded directly to experts in the GSC, or will be recorded first until the staff find out the correct answer and respond through telephone, fax or email.
Real-time communication will be maintained between the Special Olympics Hotline and the control center of GSC, which makes it possible not only to instantly announce various information regarding the Games, but also to promptly notify the GSC of the key issues that the public are concerned about, so as to facilitate the GSC’s effort to provide more focused information services.
