Law Enforcement Torch Run
Explanation of the Original Design of the 2007 SOWSG Torch
The design of the torch, the Soaring Dragon, was inspired by Hua Biao (ornamental columns erected in front of palaces, tombs, etc.). With flying golden dragons and the meandering Great Wall on its purplish red handle, the torch implies the unification of heaven and earth and the harmonious world through the dragons in the air and the Great Wall on the land; the golden main body of the torch inherits the classical style, with

"Eyes," the logo of the 2007 SOWSG on one side, and “Flame of Hope”, the logo of this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run, on the other side. The torch design carries such a message: China soaring to a harmonious world and the whole world sharing the same sacred fire of the Special Olympics.

The torch is 40.6 cm long and weighs 1,360 g. The main body of the torch is made of high-polished alloy with a composite resin handle; the glass fiber torch core will use clean liquid fuel and can keep a flame for up to 40 minutes. Even under hard light, the flame can still be seen clearly. The torch also has strong resistance to wind and rain.

According to the provision by Special Olympics Inc., Special Olympics Inc. is responsible for the design and manufacture of the Special Olympics torch. The torch for the 2007 SOWSG was designed by American designer Jeff Elliott.

Explanation of the Logo of the Law Enforcement Torch Run
The visual focus of the logo, Flame of Hope, is a blazing torch. With simple lines, a combination of strength and tenderness, and a strong dynamic feeling, the flame represents tenderness towards people with intellectual disabilities from the tough law enforcement members. It also implies the bravery and confidence of Special Olympics athletes – “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt”. Both the overall logo design and the local torch design are in three primary colors – red,
yellow and blue – with the meaning that the mixture of three primary colors results in the colorful natural world. And the Flame of Hope kindles the common dream of human beings and leads us toward a harmonious world.

The markings in Chinese and English at the upper and lower ends of the logo indicate that this is the Law Enforcement Torch Run to welcome the 2007 SOWSG with the final leg in China.

According to the requirements by Special Olympics Inc., the logo of this Law Enforcement Torch Run is a revision based on the registered logo of Special Olympics Inc.
